FISHING and BOATING

Palm Coast is known as a boating and fishing community.

Freshwater

In western Flagler County there is Dead Lake , an offshoot of Crescent Lake, with the Bull Creek campground  located there.

About 40 minutes west of Palm Coast is Crescent Lake. It is the 3rd largest lake in Florida and is the Bass Capital of the United States. Crescent City is the largest town on the Lake, but there are several small towns, a Bass World  Lodge and Marina, WMA’s and campgrounds around the lake.

Lake George, the 2nd largest lake, is also close by in Volusia County. Many interior campgrounds and state parks are on lakes for fishing, also. Check out Lake Disston in Bunnell to fish for the day.

Freshwater Canals

If you are lucky enough to have a house on a wide freshwater canal, or know someone who does, you can put in a canoe or kayak. Fresh water canals are in many neighborhoods and some of them lead into saltwater canals. You can fish from some overpasses in neighborhood roads, also.

Saltwater Canals

A northern section of homes in Palm Coast, and in several in Flagler Beach, are on saltwater canals or right on the Intracoastal Waterway. Saltwater canals are mainly for residents but can also be reached by small boat from the Intracoastal waterway. There are also some large freshwater canals in Palm Coast, some not in residential areas, that can be reached by automobile or bike.

Intracoastal Waterway

The Intracoastal Waterway is salt water and can be reached for shore fishing from several parks, such as Princess Place Preserve and Washington Oaks Gardens State Park.  Access to the Intracoastal is available at Pellicar Creek CampgroundBing’s Landing, Waterfront Park, and  Wadsworth Dog Park. While Bing’s Landing has a small marina, the other parks have only kayak/canoe ramps.  The Intracoastal itself is rather calm so that you can use a pontoon boat, or up to a very large yacht or sport boat. There is a marina in St. Augustine and several in Volusia County for larger boats if your dock is too shallow. You have to use these marinas to get access to the ocean.

Boat Ramps

There are at least four boat ramps in Flagler County. There is Shell Bluff Boat Ramp on Crescent Lake, Betty Steflik Park and Moody Boat Launch in Flagler Beach, and at Bing’s Landing, in Palm Coast.

From the Intracoastal Waterway, you can fish almost anywhere and travel to many restaurants with docks in St. Augustine, Flagler County, Volusia County and southward. You can get into the ocean in St. Johns County or Volusia County to fish in deep water and once there, you can travel by boat all the way to the Keys for the best saltwater fishing in the US!

Ocean side

Make sure you have the the proper Florida fishing license before dropping your line.
