The Alphabet On A Realtor’s Signature

The letters on a Realtor®’s signature, can look like gibberish. However, it is an indicator that the Realtor® is taking courses to further their knowledge to be able to better help customers. All of the Certificates and Designations can be found here. These are the definitions of the ones we have earned:

ABR® Accredited Buyer Representative®: ABR® designees advocate for homebuyers, and are recognized as distinguished agents in the industry. This designation program establishes a foundation of training, skills, and resources to help real estate professionals succeed as a buyer’s representative.

AHWD® At Home With DIversity®: Work effectively with, and within, today’s diverse real estate market. The At Home With Diversity® certification teaches how to conduct your business with sensitivity to all client profiles and build a business plan to successfully serve them.

C2EX® Commitment to Excellence®: This is a multi-month long course that has to be taken every three years to show competence and knowledge of Real Estate, Diversity and the community.

MRP® Military Relocation Professional®: NAR’s Military Relocation Professional® certification focuses on educating real estate professionals about working with current and former military service members to find housing solutions that best suit their needs and take full advantage of military benefits and support.

PMN® Professional Management Network®: This designation is unique to the REALTOR® family designations, emphasizing that in order to enhance your business, you must enhance yourself. It focuses on negotiating strategies and tactics, networking and referrals, business planning and systems, personal performance management and  leadership development. It is only available to members of the Women’s Council of Realtors.

RENE® Real Estate Negotiation Expert®: The Real Estate Negotiation Expert® certification is for real estate professionals who want to sharpen their negotiation and client advocacy skills.

Do these really matter? If an agent does not have any certifications or designations, they may not be a Realtor®. Realtors® are held to much higher standards than a sales associate. There is also a yearly fee to keep Designations current, with access to the advanced tools offered by each one to better help customers.

If they are a Realtor®, they may be new to the industry, or if experienced, they may not care to learn how to more effectively and efficiently help their customers.

Never be afraid to ask any agent what certifications and designations they have earned to see if you want to work with them or not. I hope this has been helpful.
